Awentree

Thu Jan 10, 2008, 10:44 AM
On the art front-

January 12, I will be showing at Awentree as part of the Easthampton MA artwalk.
Here's Awentree's myspace:

And their profile on Witchvox:[link]

And here's the site for the Artwalk itself:

I'm pretty excited. I've never had a showing quite like this before... well, a little nervous too, actually. I hope I manage to sell something.

On the Home Front-

I got a job as a cashier at a local grocery store. My first real job ever-- it can be pretty tough (especially as I just figured out I'm quite dyslexic, and giving back change can be tricky) but the people around here are nice and patient with me.

My best wishes to all of you out there!

Stuff and things

My sweet little hound is doing much better, so now I have to return my attention to my comic, book, and job hunting.

It's going to be tough, since I have few real-world skills and classify myself as kind of the grinchy hermit type.

Well, here's hoping all my buds out in internet-land are doing well, and getting whatever they're going for.

All for a towel

Sun Sep 9, 2007, 5:19 AM
I have had a *horrible* couple of days.

My dog ate a towel and it got lodged in her intestines and we had to take her to the doggy emergency room. They had to perform surgery on her to get it out. She could have died.

I really love my dog (her name is Sophie) so this has been an incredibly stressful time. Things went well, though, so hopefully we'll be able to bring her back tommorow.

New Moon Magazine!

Fri Jul 20, 2007, 5:09 AM
I have been chosen to illustrate the cover of the Jan/Feb issue of New Moon: The Magazine for Girls and their dreams. I am honored and delighted.

The issue will deal with coming of age, and what an exciting and confusing time it can be.

New Moon is a wonderful magazine. It's a far cry from the silly, shallow tripe that our popular culture spoon-feeds everyone. I urge you to pick up a copy if you can.

Sometimes, things suck hard.

I absolutely love living in New England. The beauty here feeds the soul. I love almost everything about it.

But, let me tell you, in the last couple of months I've had to take a lot of hard knocks. The most recent crisis, though, involves my complete failure at finding a job. Apparently I'm such a useless loser that no one wants to hire me. Things aren't desperate yet, but in a few months they will be.

Also, I've had to face a lot of rejections and set backs with my art lately. I feel like... well, maybe I'm really not all that good. I don't get many comments anymore, we aren't attracting much traffic at Palidor Media, and the place that was showing some of my work before-- called Hordelings-- packed up and closed shop without ever telling me. Now, granted, I hadn't checked back in a month or two, but the owner had all my information. It wasn't like I was incommunicado.

I feel like there's a curse on me or something.
Well, it's hard to dwell in darkness when the lilacs are in bloom.
I'll just have to keep doing my best.
