Artist's Comments

With this piece, I wanted to try something new- a sort of Mucha-noveau style using a mythical creature, but still suitable for a kid's book.

I wanted the background to look like parchment... not sure if I was successful with that...

The mediums: Copic marker, acrylic, bristol board

while I don't think the background looks like a parchment, I do like the dreamyness of it. I think if you want the parchment look, you may want to add some 'cracks' in the ';parchment', like very thing triangles, ya know?

Thanks ! I seem to have a terrible curse on me, though, when I go back and try to change something. I always end up screwing it up so bad I have to throw it away. Like, once, a whole bottle of india ink tipped over and... it was bad. Very, very bad. But thanks for the fav ^-^

maybe you could trace it with transparent vellum and see how it looks, and not risk ruining the original

yeah, tons of comic artists trace their work when they make a mistake, it saves a ton of time and energy...better to trace what you've done right than start from scratch
